Casa de us

Later on today I’ll be calling one or two Spanish estate agencies about long term lets. It’s been brought to our attention that it’s worth considering renting the property through March even if we don’t arrive until April, just to secure it. Which is fine and understandable.

So I’ll be calling regarding a few places me and the missus have been looking at. I have a few questions that need to be cleared up and will need to report back to the missus later tonight, but fingers crossed before the end of the week we will be able to say “We want this one please.”

But if anyone – excluding you Pinkosa – can correctly guess what makes this property stand out from the rest and appearing and on our list I’ll give you some points.

New Year…

…same old me.

Reflecting and the horizon.

How was your Christmas and New Years?

I lost my appetite for food just before Christmas, although gained it back a few days later and helped to lower the stock of left over turkey with plenty of sandwiches. So much so that I no longer fit in to a pair of indoor shorts.

Presents wise, I got..

A few Wii games – it’s hit home that unless I get a decent paying job my current steady income of Wii games will be gone when I get to Spain
Books about Spain – so I can read up what official forms I need to fill and where to get them from, a book about Spanish food so I can learn the different food types
Some really funky shoes and trainers
An alarm clock – that once turned on, cannot be turned off and beeps every hour and at some random time every day. I get on of these every year and it takes a while for me to figure out how to switch of the alarm. I’m sure people think I like this kind of amusement.

New Years me and the missus spent in alone watching ‘The IT Crowd,’ on More4. It was nice. It’s so much harder to get to places from Central London to where we live. Even an invite to a friends home for quite drinks was declined as it felt like there would be an incredible long and expensive mission to get home.
Which made us even more surprised to see a bus doing it’s tiny little local bus route drive past at 1215.
Afterwards we spent some time watching the Radiohead webcast which was great. I have to go and see these guys later in the year in Barcelona. I’ll have to make sure to set aside a Radiohead tour savings along with my Spanish savings.

This year will mostly be made up of the trials and good times of moving to Spain. After having a chat with some friends who live in Spain and were back here for a few days I am very excited. There isn’t nothing major happening beween now and then. I turn 26 thats about it. (I can’t believe I needed a calculator to work out my age. Thats the downside of cards that don’t have your age on them.)
But Spain is looking very close. April isn’t too far away. I only have 2 more visit’s back up North to see family and friends before I leave. The time will fly past.

But in a few monthes I’ll be taking regular dips in the pool or walks to the beach. Hopefully I’ll be fitting back in to my indoor shorts pretty soon 😀 ha

What ever your plans are, good luck with 2008.

Feliz Ano Neuvo

The new beginning

Or “Don’t you hate it when you find what you want under your nose but then dont like it.”

So I had my first day at my new job. First impression’s aren’t good. This job looks like it offers no such hope of job satisfaction. (If there is any it’s pretty hard to find) But in respect that I have plans to be out of the country within months I suppose the job is ok to see me over.
Bonus points for the job are complete lack of any responsibilty, it is within 15 minutes bus journey of where I live and although the pay is lower the cost of travel is much much lower so it works out I will probably have more money after bills here.
Although I do have another job interview on Friday and despite being in the city and meaning I have to spend four times as much travel as my current job I may put a bit of hop in my step when I go for the interview. Fingers crossed the office atmosphere is better and the job looks a little mroe challenging.

Although there are some downsides to the new job. Finding a new sandwich shop. This could take a while as the town the job is in (Bromley) is the place where me and the missus go to do almost all are shopping and I havent seen a good sandwich shop since being here. Although I haven’t looked.
And secondly, all the podcasts I regualarly download and listen to on the way to work will now cause some problems. This is because the podcasts last anything from 20 to 40 minutes, which is of course more then the time it takes fo me to get to work.

Anyway thats me, and this next bit is just so I remember what to type in tomorrows (or my next) blog: underwear

I’m back

So I am back from my week away in Spain. Doing nothing but soak up the soon pool side.

While I have been gone alot has happened. England was flooded. The Spice Girls are reunited. Dr Who finishes (but has a new pop side kick). Both Wimbledon and the Summer try to start. Both fail miserably. Someone tries to blow up London. Eta try to blow up Ibiza airport. And someone attempts to drive a fireball car in to Glasgow airport. Both of these happened on the same day we were to return home. It made those that were already nervous about flying that little extra more nervous.

Well hopefully I’ll have a few photos to share. There could be one of where the missus overslept sunbathing and get very very red.

But in short I had a great time on Holiday. And who knows how long I’ll be going for on my next visit?

See you later ESpana alligator

Well I’m off to here…

Ok, I’m not really heading to the planet of the 5 Suns. But South Coast Spain is looking hot at the moment.

So here is something I am going to leave with you while I’m gone.

I may of just found my album of the summer. Can’t wait to get this on my mp3 player. Dust off the old CD tonight hopefully.

Anyway, here is one of their better tracks, done in cappella.
Can you guess who it is? Well worth a listen.
